Additionally the specially developed needle for local - intramyocardial - cardiac therapy and its locking device offer a safe application of gene therapeutic substances and drugs directly into the heart muscle with the locking device preventing the complete penetration of the heart muscle.

All these interventions will be percutaneous and therefore minimally invasive. During application the catheter system will be controlled by MRI technology. This approach provides the maximum protection for the usually already weakened patient and also lowers costs for the intervention itself as well as the after-treatment.

Within the context of this project a catheter device for image-guided cardiac interventions and interventions within the biliary tract or renal pelvis is being developed.  The main field of appliance will be the application of pharmaceutical agents and therapeutic substances or the sampling of biopsies, where its excellent controllability allows the catheter to access hard-to-reach areas.
